As information becomes more accessible, user-generated videos are increasing in length, placing a burden on viewers to sift through vast content for valuable insights. For evaluation, we develop a Video Evaluation Agent to assess trimmed videos, conducting assessments in parallel with human evaluations. 7. Conclusion & Reflections

7.1. Conclusion Summary

This paper successfully introduces Video Trimming (VT) as a novel task that goes beyond conventional video processing by focusing on segment selection, wasted footage filtering, and narrative preservation. To address VT, the authors propose Agent-based Video Trimming (AVT), an innovative framework that leverages Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) as training-free agents.

AVT operates in three key phases: Video Structuring (where a Video Captioning Agent generates detailed textual descriptions including defect and highlight attributes), Clip Filtering (which dynamically selects valuable clips using a Dynamic Filter that balances highlights against defects), and Story Composition (where a Video Arrangement Agent crafts a coherent narrative from the selected clips).
